At the dawn of Advent

Celebrating concert of the Hungarian National Male Choir

The Hungarian National Male Choir of 45 members will perform a series of male music specialties and arrangements from the Renaissance to the present day.
The real specialty of the program is Francis Poulenc: The Four small prayers of Saint Francis of Assisi which explores a distinctive musical world and a world-moving spirituality with fantastic sensitivity; on the other hand contemporary Randol Alan Bass: Gloria, which is reminiscent of a Christmas angel choir: "Glory to God in the highest and peace to man...!" The main character of the Advent celebration in the church music is the Virgin Mary, so the recurring theme of the program is the prayer of Mary.
Compositions by Mihály Mosonyi, Ambrož Čopi, Jan Nieland, Franz Biebl and Sergey Rachmaninov include Ave Maria, Magnificat and other unique Marian hymns. In December 2020, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) broadcast a Christmas concert in a circuit switching, at which the Honvéd Male Choir represented Hungary with this program. The program was broadcast to audiences in 55 countries of the organization.
